I understsand what you are saying. My view is that at least the words are being said--some people see what is happening and are willing to acknowledge it, think about it and try to do something. If no one said the words, it would mean everyone is in denial and no one would even try to do anything. My worry is that on the European side of the Pond we have waited until very late to do something, perhaps too late.
Puts to the lie the MAGAT notion that we are respected across the world. I cheer on the Europeans and Canadians and Mexicans condemning the FOTUS regime. There are blue dots in a sea of red here in Oklahoma that are planning for mid-term elections, even with the possibility there won't be elections. There are protests at the State Capitol (I'd be at one today but it was postponed due to winter weather. Ninety miles one way would be too far for me to go in that stuff anyway.)
There are blue dots calling and writing to our blood red Congressmen. Will I be singled out for some kind of retribution, put on a purge list? I do it anyway.
We are calling on them to hold town halls during Congressional recesses. They are too cowardly to face us, even to face the disenchanted MAGATS who voted for them.
Some of us are owning a gun for the first time in our lives, and learning how to use it.
Some of us are hanging flags upside down in neighborhoods of Trump flags.
And some are suffering in silence, unable or unwilling to stick their necks out even when their jobs are being targeted.
Malhuret sees a bright spot, and he's right. "But in American history, the freedom fighters have always prevailed. They are beginning to raise their heads."
It is heartening to know that there are blue dots in red places. (Well, I know there are, because I know you and a group of blue dots in Chattanooga where I vote). I *know* the frothing extremists are a minority, not the majority. But it's definitely a race to see which side will move furthest, fastest.
Malhuret has faith that the soul of America isn't lost, but we are also bringing to mind what Churchill said about us--along the lines of Americans will always do the right thing, after trying everything else. We're definitely at "everything else" for the moment.
As an American, I weep.
As a USA-UK dual citizen, so do I.
The words are great but realism is far away
