In the Parable books, there's a lot of that. One person sets an example, gathers others around her and gets them to sign up to go the same direction, and so on. It becomes a movement, a much bigger thing from that small origin.
If I didn't already have a big stack of books waiting to be read, I'd love to read that series again. It is soooo good!
At the moment I'm midway through George Monbiot's book Regenesis, learning about soil and experiments toward being able to feed ourselves without (as he puts it) devouring the planet. I'm learning a lot. I expected to learn that some of what circulates as accepted wisdom is wrong, but exactly *what* is wrong sometimes comes as a big surprise.
