I voted on the first day of early voting in my state. Before voting I went to my state’s Secretary of State’s website to make sure I was still registered as active. Although my voter registration card is not required in my state, I made sure I had it with me along with my state-issued ID. The line on the first day of voting at my site was long, but the wait was only fifty-five minutes and well worth it. Now it’s done! With so much voter suppression in my state, early voting gives me time to deal with the situation if anyone tries to keep me from voting. As I walked away after casting my ballot, it was a relief to know that if something happens such as an accident or an illness, my vote is already in the system.

You've acted wisely. I am so glad you did *all of that* just in case.

I feel the same way--no waiting until the last minute, I want to get my ballot in with plenty of time to straighten out any problems. Mine is a postal ballot. I sent it in the day after it arrived, and I sent it by UPS (usually it's DHL but I was still in Colorado) to be sure it got delivered.

Like Cindy said, this is being saved to my phone and I'll have the website pulled up, as well.

May I share this to my FB and/or Bluesky page, Bonnie? I'll also requote it on Twitter, not that I have many followers on any of them, but getting this information shared might be important for someone.

As always, thank you!

You are always welcome to share links to my posts anywhere you want. If you want to share only a portion of the text pasted into your own post with no attribution link, normally that is a more delicate issue--but this is for the sake of protecting people's ability to vote, so do anything you want with it.

I didn't post this until I had seen someone live-post about a poll worker trying to turn them away (along with several other voters), and the people at the Hotline did indeed straighten it all out. I wanted to see some indication that this works!

Thank you! I've reposted it on Twitter already, and will do so- with full attribution to you- elsewhere later today.

If spreading this around helps even one person vote who is entitled to & is initially turned away, it will be worth our efforts.

I’ll save this on my phone just in case. Thanks!

Better to have it & not need it than to need it & not have it! I hope voting goes smoothly for you.
