It's a shame that health care in both countries is so problematic.

I know people in each country who have personal stories of getting wonderful health care (including some in the USA whose insurance covered nearly all of it). I also know people in each country who have been through personal nightmares trying to get the health care they needed. What most people want is for health care to be consistently available, consistently good, consistently accessible.

The doctors, nurses and other health care workers want, I think, to get to do what they went into the field to do--provide medical care--at a tolerable pace without having to satisfy irrational barriers and counterproductive or excessive bureaucracy. Oh yes, and for appropriate pay, a major issue in the UK. (We don't pay most doctors well.)

There's a lot to sort out in both countries. This pandemic has a tendency to magnify weaknesses in society, and health care is in the center.
