When one is "in the groove" or in the "alpha state" of creation, tedium doesn't always feel like a burden. In a way, painting is tedious - laying down one brush stroke at a time to create an interpretive landscape. Writing a novel can be tedious when one struggles to find the next sentence or plot line. It's a great reminder to everyone that magic happens only after hard work, much of it distinctly non-magical.
